Trimming your goats hooves

Trimming hooves is something that should be done around every six months. Some goats require more often, but as a general rule, every 6 months should be good. The back hooves are usually longer for some reason than the front. If you have a lot of rocky terrain, sometimes they trim themselves so to speak. Just make sure you only trim the parts that are folding over the pad, or quick as I call it. If you get too close and they bleed, you will feel like they need a transfusion because it seems to bleed a lot! Don't panic, throw some flour or baking soda on it and move on.

The green trimmers I use are available at Tractor Supply - Producer's Pride Burgon and Ball Footrot Shears with Adjustable Tension.
